Reilly is a New York-based, London-born photographer. He did not receive any formal training in photography, but it became a consuming passion from the age of 17 when he was given his first Pentax.

Reilly attended The London College of Printing where he studied print production and went on to work in the production department of a couple of London book publishers. He became a "professional" photographer in the mid 1990s after leaving his job as an art director for a business magazine in New York. Reilly was also art director for Prison Life magazine.

His photographic work has been published in various national and international magazines and newspapers.
